Alaa Sadik is a professor of educational technology at South Valley University, Egypt, and the founder of Slideator. He received his Ph.D. in educational technology from the University of Hull, UK, in 2003. He worked at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, the Arab Open University, Oman, and Partners for Competitive Egypt project, funded by the USAID Egypt.

Prof. Sadik has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and research in the fields of e-learning, distance education, and multimedia. He has published many papers in refereed journals and international conferences. He received many regional and international awards for his contribution to the development and use of technology in teaching and learning, particularly in the Arab region.

He is interested in the integration of technology and Web applications into the curriculum, and providing students with more and long-term opportunities to spend sufficient time working together with technology to build their own technology-enhanced learning communities.

Prof. Sadik believes that there is a growing world-wide interest in providing learners with quality video content because video is more realistic than other type of media, flexible (anytime, anywhere, portable, easy to use, etc.), rich content, motivating, socially acceptable, and cost-effective. However, many teachers do not have the technical and pedagogical skills and experience to create and share video tutorials. Therefore, he developed Slideator as an online platform and community to automates the process of recording video presentations and ensures that teachers need minimal technical skills and spend no additional time creating videos.
